Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information AntiquePhotoStock, a service of Historical Photos LLC ("we," "us," "our"), collects when you use antiquephotostock.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and what choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information when you sign up: email address, password (stored only as a bcrypt hash — we never see or store your plaintext password), full name, and an optional phone number.
• Photo submissions when you offer to sell photographs to us: a batch title, the photographs you upload, your asking price, item descriptions, contact name and email (auto-filled from your account when you're logged in), an optional phone number, and any notes you add.
• Shipping and tracking information if we accept your offer: the tracking number you provide for the package you ship to us.
• Profile updates you make on your account page.

Information collected automatically

• Search queries typed into the catalog search are logged (without any account identifier) so we can improve the catalog. These logs contain only the search text and a timestamp.
• Standard server access logs kept by our hosting provider (IP address, request URL, timestamp, browser user-agent). These are used for security and operational purposes.

Cookies

We set one cookie named aps_session. It is signed, HTTP-only (not readable by JavaScript), and stores your user ID and a CSRF token so the site can keep you logged in and reject forged form submissions. The cookie lasts up to 30 days and is set with SameSite=Lax; on production (HTTPS) it is also marked Secure. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.

2. How We Use Information

• To authenticate you and keep you logged in.
• To evaluate the photographs you submit, communicate offers, and arrange shipping and payment if you accept.
• To display catalog items sourced from eBay (these listings are not your personal data).
• To maintain and secure the Site (rate limiting, abuse detection, error diagnosis).
• If you accept our offer for items you've submitted, we may use your uploaded photographs and item descriptions in our public catalog and marketing materials. See section 4 of our Terms of Service for the license you grant us.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Our hosting and database providers, who store the Site's data on our behalf under their own security standards.
• Law enforcement or in response to a lawful subpoena, when required.

4. Data Retention

• Account information is kept until you ask us to delete it (see section 6).
• Submission records and uploaded photographs are kept for as long as your account exists or until the submission is deleted by an admin during the review process. Photographs of items we have purchased may be retained indefinitely for catalog and marketing purposes (per the license in our Terms of Service).
• Search logs are retained without any user identifier and may be kept indefinitely in aggregate form.

5. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), hashed password storage, signed session cookies, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we aim to apply current best practices.

Note about uploaded photos. Uploaded photographs are served from our domain at unguessable random URLs but are not gated behind login. Anyone with a specific URL could in theory view that photograph. Don't upload photographs you wouldn't be comfortable being viewed by anyone with the URL.

6. Your Rights & Choices

You can:

• View and update your name, email, and phone number from your account page.
• See your submissions and their statuses on the Sell page.
• Request account deletion by contacting us at the email below. We will delete your account, your submissions still in review, and any uploaded photographs that we have not yet purchased. Records related to items we have purchased may be retained as part of our business records.
• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

7. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Our Terms of Service require account holders to be 18 or older. If you believe a minor has created an account or submitted photographs, contact us and we will remove the account and content.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when changes were made. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
