Antique CDV Brown Baby Infant Lace Christening Gown Newport NH Chair

Antique CDV Brown Baby Infant Lace Christening Gown Newport NH Chair

This antique CDV captures a solemn studio portrait of an infant posed carefully upon a high-backed Newport NH chair. The baby is draped in a voluminous, intricate lace christening gown that spills over the furniture, creating a stark contrast against the dark, textured backdrop typical of 19th-century photography.

The image offers a fascinating look at Victorian-era portraiture and textile history. Collectors of early photography will appreciate the crisp focus on the delicate lace detailing and the specific provenance of the Newport studio mark. It is a poignant, well-preserved glimpse of a christening portrait featuring a baby in a lace gown.
