Antique CDV C. M. Hasse Family Baby Seated Mother Father Milwaukee Wis.

Antique CDV C. M. Hasse Family Baby Seated Mother Father Milwaukee Wis.

This antique CDV captures a formal studio portrait of the Hasse family, featuring a young baby seated prominently between the mother and father. The composition reflects the stiff, composed aesthetic of mid-to-late 19th-century photography, with the parents posed to emphasize their roles and the infant as the central focus of the domestic unit.

Originating from a Milwaukee, Wis. studio, this piece offers a glimpse into Midwestern family life during the carte de visite era. Collectors of regional Wisconsin history or Victorian portraiture will appreciate the sharp detail preserved in this Hasse family heirloom.

A rare look at a 19th-century Milwaukee, Wis. family portrait.
