Antique CDV T Hooker Open Bible Book Bookmark Wellington New Zealand
This antique CDV features a portrait of T. Hooker, captured in a studio setting in Wellington, New Zealand. The subject is posed with an open Bible, a prop that suggests a somber, Victorian-era devotion while a decorative book bookmark rests visibly against the pages.
The composition reflects the mid-to-late 19th-century colonial photography style common in New Zealand. Collectors of antipodean history or ecclesiastical portraiture will appreciate the sharp detail of this rare Hooker studio print.
A remarkable piece of social history from a Wellington studio.
