Vtg B&W Snapshot Man US Army Soldier Sergeant Overcoat Snow Alaska WWII 1940s
This B&W snapshot captures a lone US Army soldier standing amidst a thick blanket of Alaska snow. The man, a high-ranking sergeant, is bundled in a heavy military overcoat designed for the brutal sub-zero temperatures of the Pacific Northwest during the height of the war.
The stark contrast of the dark wool uniform against the bright winter landscape offers a visceral look at the frozen conditions faced by troops in the 1940s. It is a candid piece of WWII history that highlights the isolation and grit required for northern deployments.
This original image is an essential find for any collector focusing on WWII era military life or the specific theater of the Alaskan frontier. It serves as a personal, frozen-in-time record of a sergeant on duty in the frost.
