From the listing
This listing features a unique piece of Memphis, Tennessee history: a 1952 commemorative postal cover paired with a blank order form from the McMahon Dental Lab. The envelope is postmarked April 7, 1952, from Pittsburg Landing, TN, and features a prominent red cachet for the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh. It is franked with a 3-cent Betsy Ross stamp and addressed to Miss Katherine McMahon.
The accompanying McMahon Dental Lab form is a fascinating piece of medical ephemera. It includes fields for patient details and "Type Face" selection (Square, Tapering, Ovoid) with illustrative portraits. The reverse side contains a detailed dental chart for "Design Case Here" and lists various Trubyte brand dental products. The lab was located in the historic Sterick Building in Memphis.
Both items show signs of age, including natural paper toning and some edge wear. The envelope has a small tear at the bottom and some creasing consistent with being mailed. The dental form remains in good condition with its original horizontal folds. This set is perfect for collectors of Tennessee postal history, Civil War commemoratives, or vintage medical advertising.
