This is an original 19th-century postal stationery cover sent from the Centre County Banking Co. in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, to Philadelphia. The envelope features a pre-printed 2-cent green George Washington embossed stamp. It is addressed to Edward T. Johnson Esq. at 637 Market St.
The front of the envelope bears a circular date stamp from Bellefonte, PA, dated December 29. The reverse side features a very clear receiving postmark from Philadelphia dated December 30, 1887, at 6:30 AM. The return address for the bank is printed in the upper left corner.
Condition is good for its age, showing typical toning and light wear consistent with 19th-century mail. The corners are slightly rounded, and there is a small handwritten '4-' on the back.
